HOW TO PACK FOR HAWAII
MONEY
It may help to have at least 100 US dollars in cash until you are able to set up a bank account in Hawaii. Most places in Hawaii will take credit card or cash. Checks are often accepted at organizations like schools, government offices, churches, etc.
PLANE TICKET
Do not forget or lose your plane ticket.
PASSPORT, VISA, I-20
Keep your I-20 in a safe place and carry it with your passport on the plane because you will need to present it to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer at Honolulu Airport. Do not put your I-20 in your check-in luggage.
HEALTH INSURANCE
All students are required to have medical insurance coverage in the U.S. Students will not be allowed to attend classes until all health requirements are completed.
MEDICATION
If you have medication that you need to take, pack a month's supply until you can get a prescription from a doctor in Hawaii. All medication must be stored and administered at the nurse's office.
MEDICAL RECORD
You should bring with you your medical record of immunizations in case you need to go to the doctor.
CLOTHES & SHOES
Remember that sizes in the U.S. tend to run larger than in Asia. Hawaii can get as hot as 32 degrees Celsius and as low as 15 degrees Celsius.

SWIMWEAR & GOGGLES
All students must pass a swim test in order to graduate.
TRAVEL SIZED TOILETRIES
Bring a few toiletries to last a week until you can go shopping in Hawaii.
SCHOOL BAG & SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Lockers are available but the school bag should be big enough to carry a few textbooks. School supplies for each grade level are posted on Parent Portal Documents & Downloads.
DICTIONARY
An electronic dictionary is recommended.
ELECTRONICS & CHARGERS
A laptop is not necessary and there are computers at school, but useful if you prefer laptop over iPad for homework.
